The company was founded in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1999 and has been online since 2003. 2010 was a turning point when Fort Worth, Texas-based Cockrell Enovation, one of the largest full-service commercial printing enterprises in the region, purchased Polka Dot Design from its founders. In addition to continually expanding its own exclusive line of digitally printed products developed in 2008, Polka Dot Design maintains its valued, close-knit relationships with the foremost stationery brands, many that have been offered from the start.
With the launch of an expanded, redesigned website, www.polkadotdesign.com, in late 2011, the company is now poised for even more robust growth. Polka Dot Design’s web-based boutique features both on-demand, digital products printed in-house and specialty, offset printed traditional products from the most well-respected brands, including those with embellishments and die cuts. Select products can be ordered as blank stock or custom printed. Customers enjoy a user-friendly shopping experience, exploring stylish invitations, photo cards and stationery along with coordinating accessories like address labels, enclosure cards, gift tags and party supplies. Polka Dot Design’s offerings continually expand with the addition of new brands and fresh products to meet the ongoing needs of customers.
Supporting and managing Polka Dot Design’s online boutique is an energetic, dedicated staff of 15 employees, as of early 2012. Keeping a finger on the pulse of the current trends, this creative team gathers in an open space concept studio, above printing presses and fulfillment departments, at company headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas. Executives John Cockrell Jr., president; Bill Lorimer, general manager; Colleen Shutt, creative director; Madison Nguyen, marketing manager; and Kristen Alexander Thornton, operations manager, oversee the online shopping portal supported by the most thoughtful, accessible customer service in the industry. Polka Dot Design offers free proofs and unlimited proof changes, fast turnaround, product assembly and shipping nationwide.
